Jim Gibson realized the need for a national accounting system long before he became President and C.E.O. of Nova Voice & Data Systems, Inc. While working at Burlington Air Express (BAX), he was often frustrated by the length of time required to install equipment. For example, being based in California, it was difficult to take care of installations in the Baltimore office in a timely and efficient manner. Just to get the information needed for an installation to the installing dealer would take an average of three weeks. Additionally, technicians weren’t always available to answer questions. It seemed that none of the big providers could furnish Gibson with the level of service he desired.

National Accounts

National accounts are multi-locational companies with an internal function set up to select, standardize, and procure all of their telecommunication equipment. Generally, the scope of implementation is nationwide, which means that a large commitment must be made to the vendors of this equipment. With this commitment comes advantages such as quantity purchasing power, standardization of all equipment, uniform pricing for equipment and installation, and centralized billing.

Design

Nova Voice and Data provides a specially designed software package for all of its national clients, a package that includes proprietary software to ensure that installations are done according to customer specifications. Installation

Nova can do multiple installations simultaneously and has never missed an installation date. The national account is not charged until everything is installed and the employees are trained in a manner unique to their particular business. Purchase agreements are filled out prior to installation and provide the national account with a thorough explanation of all of the components necessary to complete the installation.

Management

Another option available for national accounts is management. Once the database is installed, Nova can manage it for all locations in the United States. If the national account prefers to manage its own database, Nova is available for consultations. Furthermore, technicians are available twenty-four hours a day to answer any questions that may arise.
