VoIP Success Stories with Nova

VoIP is a new PROVEN technology, however as with any technology, it must give you a business advantage to be worth the investment. The question each business owner must ask is….what is my return on investment?

One customer of ours has 3 locations. Each location had two T1 lines (costly). Each location had its own voicemail system and receptionist. One T1 at each location was used for data, the other for voice. We installed two new Toshiba telephone systems and upgraded one existing Toshiba system for VoIP. All three systems were connected together via StrataNet. StrataNet is Toshiba’s name for the program that connects their phone systems using VoIP. Two of the costly T1 circuits were dropped when the VoIP system was installed because it handled the large volume of intra-office calls. This company saved a considerable amount of money with the deletion of the two T1 circuits. Now when they need to reach a coworker in a different location, they can use their three digit extension number and not have to place an outside call.

Additional savings were realized when just one voicemail system was used for all three locations. When a call was placed to the corporate office and dialed an employee’s extension at a distant office, the extension would immediately ring. With caller ID being transmitted over VoIP, the employee knew who was calling and was able to answer appropriately. Or if a message was left on the voicemail system at the corporate location, his message light would be lit. The third savings the company realized was in the reduction of operators. Three operators were no longer needed. One operator can answer all the calls for all three locations. With the Toshiba VoIP system in place, their salesmen who worked out of their home, could receive phone calls as if their office was in the corporate headquarters. Of course, their VoIP phone in their home office would also be lit whenever the voicemail was holding a message for them. Calling the voicemail system from hundreds of miles away to retrieve their messages cost the business nothing. Nor did it tie up their incoming company lines.

As a result of the new VoIP system, the collaboration amongst employees in different locations increased significantly while the cost dropped drastically. The cost of doing business using telephony dropped drastically and productivity increased. The return on investment was such that the upgrade to the original Toshiba system and the 2 new systems were paid for in a few short months. The company continues to save about $5000 each month as a result of VoIP.

Another Successful VoIP Implementation

Another successful VoIP implementation involves an engineering firm in California with a branch office in the Midwest. They also have multiple salesmen in the NW, NE and SE. All can be talking to the sales manager and engineers without any additional cost to the company. It is important to note that the system was designed in such a way that if internet access was broken, each system can act independently of the others. There is a significant toll call savings also. When the California office called to the Midwest, the Toshiba phone system would route the calls over the VoIP network and dial out locally from the Midwest office to the customer. Thus making a long distance call a local call.

Considerable savings can be demonstrated and realized using the new VoIP technology. Your competitors have probably switched already …are you VoIP ready?
